Following on from the 2009 Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy tournament where the Hockeyroos wore pink bodysuits in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), the team is now hosting a Pink Girls Night In event in support of the Cancer Council.

The Girls Night In is an event used to raise vital funds for research into women's cancers. The idea is that a group people donate the money they would have otherwise spent on a night out and instead enjoy their friends company by having a night in.

Hockeyroos Teneal Attard and Emily Hurtz have become ambassadors for the Girls Night In and will be hosting an event for the Hockeyoos on Saturday February 6 in Perth.

Attard said the Hockeyroos decided to organize their own Girls Night In after missing the opportunity to attend Girls Night In events in October last year.

“Emily obviously wanted to become involved after losing her mum to breast cancer at a young age and my aunt had a scare last year. It is a good cause and we missed out on the opportunity to get involved last year, so we thought why not organize our own party,” said Attard.

35 players from the Hockeyroos and the National Development squad will attend the Girls Night In.

If you would like to help the Hockeyroos raise as much money as possible for this good cause please click here and donate what you would spend on a night out.
