FIH and STI reach agreement
11 Mar 2010 08:42

With the semifinals of the Hero Honda FIH World Cup scheduled on Thursday, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Sports Technology International (STI) are pleased to announce STI as the ‘Official Pitch Supplier – Hero Honda FIH World Cup’.

After POLIGRAS® had been the surface of choice for the recent Champions Trophies and Olympic Games, the agreement between FIH and STI follows the selection of the POLIGRAS surface as the stage for the Hero Honda FIH World Cup in New Delhi, India.  The tournament played at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium will now see if Australia, England and The Netherlands are able dethrone the winner of the last two World Cups, Germany, on the high-performance POLIGRAS® surface.

FIH President, Leandro Negre: “Despite many challenges in preparing the venue on time, STI were instrumental in delivering a high quality POLIGRAS® pitch at India’s world class venue.

Dr Martin Schlegel of STI: “We are extremely pleased to confirm an official agreement between FIH and Sports Technology International.  This agreement is fitting recognition of Poligras’ continued success as the surface of choice for the world’s elite competitions.  Recent Olympic and Commonwealth Games, Champions Trophy tournaments and World Cups have all been hosted on Poligras and it is currently the surface staging the Hero Honda FIH World Cup at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi.”
